A Federal judge ordered the Executive Branch to “maintain” the current construction of the now-canceled Mexico City Airport. Over 147 people sued the Feds to continue building
the original twelve billion dollar
airport.
It also ordered them to halt any modification of Santa Lucia Air Force Base as a would be *New* Mexico City airport.
The order prohibited the expansion of Santa Lucia AFB on the basis that the feds did not get environmental permits, nor did they get any sort of green light from Mexico’s FAA, nor did they take into account that the nearby hills were protected archeological areas, nor did they take into account that Santa Lucia AFB is close to a nuclear storage facility.
In other news, we’re reportedly spending around 15% of the 787's asset value every year on storing it in California. Which is hilarious.
